Dr. Duffy is a staff clinician with the Medical Oncology Branch within the National Cancer Institute. He is a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. In 1998, Dr. Duffy graduated from medical school at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. After completing residency and specialist oncology registrarship in Ireland, Dr. Duffy graduated from an advanced fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York before joining NCI in 2008.

Clinical Trials Research
The Medical Oncology Branch (MOB) has the following major functions: 1) clinical research; 2) clinical care; and 3) clinical training. The purpose of these functions is:
1) To develop novel therapeutic research strategies for the treatment of cancer and to test those strategies by conducting clinical research in medical oncology across a spectrum of diseases and disease mechanisms;
2) To provide clinical care to adult cancer patients enrolled in research protocols, including in-patient and out-patient care services.
