Dr. Hughes completed her general surgery training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. Her surgical oncology and endocrine fellowship training was completed at the National Cancer Institute, NIH. Since 2004, Dr. Hughes has been a member of the Surgery Branch Senior Staff. Her academic appointment is as an assistant professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Hughes is currently working with Dr. Kebebew in support of clinical studies for endocrine cancers.
